About White Fillings

A tooth can become compromised by decay caused by a combination of factors such as mouth bacteria, sugary food and drinks and poor dental hygiene. Over time, these factors can weaken enamel, break down the tooth and cause a cavity.

Once a cavity has formed, the tooth will continue to decay and become increasingly painful until a dentist is able to treat it. Depending on the level of damage to the tooth, your dentist may recommend a tooth filling to fill in the cavity, repairing the damage caused by the decay and preventing bacteria from attacking the cavity further.

White - preferred filling type

White fillings are the preferred filling type for many dentists and patients as they are ‘invisible’, blending into the patients’ teeth.

The fillings are cured and set hard by the time you leave our dental practice. After you have had your tooth filling with one of our highly trained dentists, we will provide you with some aftercare instructions.

General advice is to avoid consuming any food or drink until the anaesthetic has worn off, which will help to avoid any injuries or other issues.
